Product Development Engineer

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, small team environment making immediate contributions while developing innovative new solutions for the LED lighting industry. Use your experience in software and embedded firmware development for both prototyping and formal product development.  Support marketing and sales activities by assembling prototypes and demo kits of new concepts and products.  Must be willing to contribute in different areas and enjoy working with your hands.  The lighting industry is adopting smart fixtures for incorporation into advanced building control systems.  Your experience and contributions will allow Bridgelux to lead the way into this new era of solid state lighting. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop software and embedded firmware for connected lighting prototypes and new LED lighting products
  • Maintain, update and enhance firmware in existing products
  • Incorporate various wireless control protocols such as WiFi, BLE, and Zigbee into LED lighting products
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging standards for smart luminaires
  • Work with your hands to help build demonstration kits for marketing and sales support
  • Document inventions and generate intellectual property
  • Be versatile and willing to support other job functions as needed

Job Requirements:

  • BS with 5+ years of industry experience or advanced degree with 3+ years of experience in computer science, electrical engineering or similar discipline
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
  • Must have a high level of dedication and commitment to produce results
  • Must have strong team work and communication skills
