Update: Summer, 2018

The original blog – Bamboozled By a Fake COB? – was posted back in the fall of 2016.  A lot of new products have been released since then, and we wanted to provide updated guidance to help ensure you are purchasing a true Bridgelux product.

First things first

Always purchase products from an approved supplier or distributor.  A list of where to buy our products is available here

We’re excited to launch a new video series called “Ask Apps” where members of our Applications Engineering team will answer your burning questions!

Over the coming months, the team will be answering questions that have come from our customers covering topics specific to our products, and general industry terms and trends.

This article is based on an interview with:

  • Anwar Aslam, Senior Applications Engineer at Bridgelux

  • Dr. Shiva Rai, Product Development Engineering Manager at Bridgelux

Let’s start with the basics: what is a driver?

A driver is something that converts AC input into DC output.  Most electronics today including your cell phone and laptop operate on DC by converting the AC input coming from the wall outlet.

Our team is in the final stretch of preparing for Light+Building, and we’re so excited about all the solutions and demonstrations that we have to share with you!

Sneak Peek

First and foremost, Happy New Year!  We hope you had a wonderful holiday season.

In late 2017, we came together to reflect on our performance and our place in the lighting industry.  We discussed and debated trends, listened to what our customers need, and focused on how we will continue to meet and exceed their expectations.

We Want You To Know

“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” – Albert Einstein

We are evolving.

Let’s cut to the chase, without light humans are helpless.

Historically, to distinguish the color quality of a light source, consumers and manufacturers utilize the Color Rendering Index (CRI) measurement which compares the light source spectral output to an ideal reference source. Traditionally the higher the CRI of the light source, the more natural and authentic objects appear under its illumination, but this has been found to not be true for objects being captured through commercial video cameras.
