FREMONT, CA, February 15, 2018 — The Sapphire Awards Gala Dinner, held on the night of February 14, 2018, celebrated the most innovative companies in the solid-state lighting (SSL) industry by naming the fourth annual LEDs Magazine Sapphire Award winners. The event, held in conjunction with Strategies in Light, The LED Show, and Lightspace California in Anaheim, CA, aboard the RMS Queen Mary honored the enabling technologies and elegance-of-design in finished lighting products in the industry. Bridgelux was thrilled to receive a Sapphire Award in the Packaged LEDs and OLEDs category for the Vesta® Series Dim-To-Warm array products.

“With LEDs sources the story was long about energy efficiency, but when history is written it will be about photometrics and form factor. LEDs enable all new experiences in light,” said Maury Wright, Editor-in-Chief of LEDs Magazine. “Our Sapphire Awards winners exemplify that eventuality with innovation that is simply amazing relative to products from one year ago.”

Bridgelux Vesta Series Dim-To-Warm Arrays are part of the Vesta Series product family, a comprehensive line of tunable white and dim-to-warm LED products that enable fixture manufacturers to build adaptable lighting solutions into their installations.

Vesta Series Dim-To-Warm Arrays deliver dynamic light in a cost-effective, solid state lighting package allowing designers and fixture manufacturers to simulate the familiar glow and dimming of incandescent lamps.   Ideal for retail or museum applications, and other applications such as hospitality where simple dynamic lighting is needed for an optimal experience without the burden of complicated and cost-prohibitive lighting systems, Vesta Series Dim-To-Warm Array products are perfect drop-in replacements to achieve the appropriate ambient light.

“We are truly honored to be recognized for our Vesta Series Dim-To-Warm product,” said Tim Lester, Bridgelux’s Chief Executive Officer.  “Dynamic, adaptable lighting is the future of how light will be personalized and experienced.”

88 companies working across the LED and solid-state lighting sectors nominated over 100 products to be considered for the fourth annual Sapphire Awards, along with outstanding individuals or teams for the prestigious Illumineer of the Year award. Sapphire Awards judges ultimately considered products across 20 technology categories that covered the spectrum of lighting applications. During the Gala, the best of the best took home the Sapphire trophies after the late-night celebration.

Bridgelux files a lawsuit that counters EVERLIGHT’s recent claims

FREMONT, California, August 1, 2017 –Bridgelux, a leading developer and manufacturer of light emitting diode (LED) lighting technologies, yesterday filed a counter claim against EVERLIGHT in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California seeking past and current damages, and an injunction preventing further sale of certain products in the United States.  Bridgelux asserts that many EVERLIGHT products including EVERLIGHT’s 2835 and chip-on-board (COB) product lines infringe on Bridgelux United States Patent numbers 6,869,812, 8,567,988, 8,256,929 and 8,092,051.

Bridgelux has invested heavily in research and product development of fundamental LED technologies, which are the intellectual property of Bridgelux and protected through their patent portfolio.  Among these technologies are light extraction processes, thermal management, and packaging used throughout the solid state lighting industry across die, surface mount, array and modular systems.  “Bridgelux is not an imitator.  We develop our own technology, and are therefore confident in the strength of our claims, the quality of our intellectual property, and the ability of the U.S. judicial system to reach the appropriate outcome,” said Tim Lester, Chief Executive Officer at Bridgelux.

For over a decade, Bridgelux has built high quality, high performing and reliable solid state LED lighting solutions ideal for a range of indoor and outdoor lighting applications.  Products are developed with careful consideration of global customer needs and industry trends, and follow many industry standards such as the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) binning guidelines.  With over 1,000 patents owned or licensed, Bridgelux prides itself on respecting the intellectual property process and the intellectual property of others, and will continue to staunchly defend itself.

Bridgelux has engaged Arent Fox LLP, a leading intellectual property firm, to represent them in this matter.

Bridgelux issues a statement regarding Everlight lawsuit filed on June 10, 2017 against Bridgelux

FREMONT, Calif., June 14, 2017 - Bridgelux 2835 surface mount device (SMD) products incorporate cutting-edge technology to deliver unsurpassed performance at competitive prices.  Bridgelux's technology results from years of advanced research and development, and is protected by Bridgelux's intellectual property, which currently includes a patent portfolio of more than 300 worldwide patents that extend across the expanse of light emitting diode (LED) technologies, from chips to luminaire solutions.

On June 10, 2017, Everlight Electronics Co., Ltd. filed a lawsuit against Bridgelux in the United States District Court (Northern District of California- San Francisco Division).  The lawsuit alleges that the Bridgelux 2835 packaged LEDs infringe U.S. Patent 6,335,548 and 7,253,448.  The scope of the lawsuit is limited only to such products in the United States and does not cover any jurisdictions outside of the United States.

Bridgelux believes that Everlight’s infringement claims are entirely without merit and intends to vigorously defend itself against these claims.  "As history demonstrates, Bridgelux respects the intellectual property rights of others and will not be intimidated by the misuse of litigation from those seeking an unfair advantage or seeking to limit the advantage Bridgelux has earned from our technology investments," said Tim Lester, CEO of Bridgelux.

Bridgelux believes this lawsuit is the result of the success of the Bridgelux 2835 SMD products in the market and Everlight’s inability to compete with a competitive offering.   Because Bridgelux’s patent portfolio covers many core LED technologies, Bridgelux intends to employ its own patent portfolio to protect its rights.

Bridgelux expands its product portfolio to include the Vesta™ Series platform, a solution for tunable white and dim-to-warm technologies.

FREMONT, Calif., May 09, 2017  - Bridgelux, a leading developer and manufacturer of LED lighting technologies, is introducing its Vesta Series platform of tunable white and dim-to-warm products during LIGHTFAIR International this week.  Designed for retail, hospitality and healthcare applications, Vesta Series is ideal for fixture manufacturers embracing the latest tunable technology and designers building adaptable lighting solutions into their installations.

Among the tunable white products are Vesta™ Series Tunable White Arrays available in nine millimeter (mm) and 13 mm form factors, and Vesta™ Series Tunable White Linear options available in a variety of standard and custom sizes.

Using chip scale package (CSP) technology to optimize color mixing, Bridgelux Vesta Series Tunable White Array products exhibit increased lumen density, are reliable at elevated currents and have superior uniformity for narrow beam angle applications. With the current trend of miniaturization, customers will find the compact system design ideal for fixtures requiring smaller optics.

Vesta Series Tunable White Linear products leverage Bridgelux surface mount (SMD) technology to offer customers a cost effective way to work with an easily configurable light source area.  With both tunable white solutions, customers can control dimming and color temperature separately.

Mimicking a traditional incandescent glow, Vesta™ Series Dim-To-Warm Arrays are available in a nine mm form factor with both six and 12 Watt (W) options, and a 15 mm form factor with 33W.   Customers will find a unique and robust substrate in this product for higher thermal conductivity and efficacy than many basic ceramic substrates, also ideal for smaller fixtures.

“We are very excited to launch Vesta Series, which is the only product platform in the industry to offer such a breadth of tunable products within one family,” said Brian Cumpston, Vice President of Product Development.  “Customers now have proven options to meet their tunable needs provided by a single supplier.”

Vesta Series Tunable White Array, Vesta Series Tunable White Linear, and the Vesta Series Dim-To-Warm Array are now available for sampling, and will be available for ordering this summer.
